Track and Field: Jamaica, the Leader in the Decathlon.
Mayagüez, Puerto Rico (July 29, 2010) – After finishing the first three events of the men’s decathlon (100 meters, long-distance jump and shot put) this morning, the Jamaican Maurice Smith is the leader of the competition with a total of 2,628 points accumulated. In second and third place are the Puerto Ricans Marcos Sánchez (2,370) and Steven Marrero (2,287). Jhonatan Davis of Venezuela (2,242), Kurt Félix of Grenada (2,239), the Mexican Jorge Rivera (2,065), and the Dominican Leandro López (2,023) are the participants of this event.
The decathlon will continue this afternoon starting at 5:30 PM with the events of high jump and then the event of 400 meters at 8:00 PM.
