FIELD HOCKEY (M – W)
First appearance in the Central American and Caribbean Games: 1982
Hockey, the oldest club and ball sport known, has been played since approximately 2,000 BC, but there are those who believe its origin is even more remote. Currently, hockey is played even on ice, but in the Summer Games the official version is field hockey. Matches are divided in two 35-minute periods and are played by two teams of 11 players. The purpose is to score the most goals.
